The recycling container located in the parking lot of the Tyson Events Center and Long Lines Family Recreation Center at 401 Gordon Drive is being permanently relocated this week to the Citizen’s Convenience Center (CCC), 5800 28th Street. This change is being made due to continued misuse of the container and will help ensure recyclable materials are properly managed and reduce contamination from non-recyclable items.
The City of Sioux City Environmental Services Division reminds residential customers that recycling is available free of charge at the Citizen’s Convenience Center. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The CCC is closed on Sundays.
Residents may recycle the following materials at no cost:
- Plastics
- Cardboard
- Aluminum
- Paper Products
- Glass (must be separated and placed in the designated area)
Please do not place plastic grocery bags in the recycling. These bags cannot be recycled through the CCC but may be returned to participating grocery stores.
Residents may also request a free, yellow-lidded recycling container through Gill Hauling by calling 712-279-0151 or by completing the online form at sioux-city.org/environmentalservices.
Ripple Glass containers are still available at six locations throughout Sioux City for glass recycling. Only glass should be placed in purple Ripple Glass containers. Locations include:
- Fareway in Riverside
- Fareway in Indian Hills
- Hy-Vee on Gordon Drive
- Hy-Vee on Sergeant Road
- Hy-Vee on Hamilton Boulevard
- Tyson Events Center/Long Lines Family Rec Center
