The Friends of the Sioux City Police Department extend heartfelt thanks to the members of Landmark Lodge #103 of Sioux City, for their donation of $2500 to help provide Project Lifesaver transmitters and supplies for families in need.  The Project Lifesaver program is offered by the SCPD and WCSO and provides a tracking system to locate “at-risk” individuals who are prone to the life-threatening behavior of wandering or eloping due to Autism, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other cognitive conditions.

Individuals enrolled in the program wear a transmitter on their ankle or wrist that emits a radio signal every second. The lost person is located by Officers and Deputies who use receivers that pick up this signal, which is specific and personalized for each individual. Search and rescue times have been drastically reduced from hours and days, to minutes, with Project Lifesaver.

The members of Landmark Lodge #103 are Masons and are part of a fraternal organization that provides its membership with tools and teachings with which to improve themselves. The Masonic organization believes that its members, who travel through the journey of self-improvement, consequently, improve the surrounding communities in which they reside.

This generous donation will help ensure that cost will not have to be an issue for families to help keep their loved ones safe. The Friends of the SCPD is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit paired with the Sioux City Police Department, which makes it possible to accept this donation. These efforts are truly appreciated, and on behalf of the families we serve, the Friends of the SCPD want to thank the members of Landmark Lodge #103 again for their thoughtfulness and generosity.
