The weekly U.S.D.A. crop report is on hold while the government remains on shutdown, but the state’s top ag official says there’s progress.

Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig in a statement says mostly dry conditions and warm temperatures gave farmers a wide window for harvest progress last week. Naig says he is hearing farmers are on a pace to be at or slightly ahead of the five-year average where about 85% of soybeans and 60% of corn has been harvested by this point in the season.
