A SALIX, IOWA RESTAURANT IS ONE OF FIVE FINALISTS FOR THIS YEAR’S BEST BREADED PORK TENDERLOIN SANDWICH IN THE STATE.

WALKER’S IN SALIX ADVANCED FROM 40 CONTENDERS IN THE ANNUAL IOWA PORK PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION COMPETITION TO THE FINAL FIVE.

TO QUALIFY, RESTAURANTS MUST SERVE HAND-BREADED OR HAND-BATTERED PORK TENDERLOINS YEAR-ROUND.

FROM THE 40 TOP-NOMINATED RESTAURANTS, MYSTERY DINERS EVALUATED SANDWICHES BASED ON PORK TASTE AND QUALITY, PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS, PRESENTATION, AND EXPERIENCE.

A PANEL OF THREE JUDGES WILL NOW VISIT EACH FINALIST TO DETERMINE FIRST AND SECOND PLACE.

THE FIRST PLACE WINNER RECEIVES $500, A PLAQUE AND BANNER, STATEWIDE PUBLICITY, AND BRAGGING RIGHTS THAT OFTEN SEND TENDERLOIN SALES SOARING.

SECOND PLACE RECEIVES $250 DOLLARS.

THE CHAMPIONS WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN MID-OCTOBER.

THE OTHER FOUR FINALISTS ARE THE 1854 IN GILBERTVILLE, THE DEXFIELD DINER & PUB IN REDFIELD, HOMETOWN HEROES IN GRINNELL AND SUGAR’S LOUNGE & DINER IN COUNCIL BLUFFS
