GOVERNOR KRISTI NOEM HAS REQUESTED A JOINT SESSION OF THE SOUTH DAKOTA LEGISLATURE TO PROVIDE A BRIEFING ON AMERICA’S SOUTHERN BORDER.
NOEM WAS IN TEXAS LAST FRIDAY VISITING THE EAGLE PASS AREA SHE REFERS TO AS A WAR ZONE.
SOUTH DAKOTA HOUSE AND SENATE LEADERSHIP QUICKLY ACCEPTED THE GOVERNOR’S REQUEST.
NOEM SAYS SHE WILL ADDRESS THE JOINT SESSION ON THE CURRENT SITUATION AT THE BORDER AND THE POTENTIAL SOUTH DAKOTA RESPONSE.
SHE SAYS “BECAUSE OF THE DIRE SITUATION, IT IS PERTINENT THAT WE HAVE THIS CONVERSATION QUICKLY.”
THIS JOINT SESSION WOULD MAKE SOUTH DAKOTA THE FIRST STATE IN THE NATION TO TAKE THE RARE STEP OF CALLING A JOINT SESSION TO SUPPORT TEXAS.
IT WILL TAKE PLACE THIS WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31ST, AT 2PM.
