SUSPECT IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING FATAL SHOOTING IN CEDAR COUNTY

ONE MAN IS DEAD AND A SUSPECT IS IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING A SHOOTING WEDNESDAY MORNING IN RURAL CEDAR COUNTY, NORTH OF HARTINGTON, NEBRASKA..

THE NEBRASKA STATE PATROL,SAYS THE SHOOTING OCCURRED AT A WORK SITE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAY 57 AND 885 ROAD, A MILE NORTH OF HARTINGTON.

THE CEDAR COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RESPONDED AND LOCATED A VICTIM WITH MULTIPLE GUNSHOT WOUNDS.

THE VICTIM WAS TAKEN TO AVERA SACRED HEART HOSPITAL IN YANKTON WHERE HE DIED FROM HIS INJURIES.

INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE THAT THE SHOOTING OCCURRED DURING A WORKPLACE ARGUMENT BETWEEN THE SUSPECT AND THE VICTIM.

THE SUSPECT, IDENTIFIED AS 20-YEAR-OLD DAVID PHILLIPS OF KENNER, LOUISIANA,, WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY THE CEDAR COUNTY SHERIFF AT THE SCENE.

CHARGES ARE PENDING.

THE IDENTITY OF THE VICTIM IS BEING WITHHELD PENDING NOTIFICATION OF FAMILY.
