NEUBAUM FOUND GUILTY OF 3 COUNTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE

A MONONA COUNTY TEENAGER ALREADY IN PRISON FOR A MURDER CONVICTION HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY OF THREE COUNTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE.

19-YEAR-OLD JAY NEUBAUM COULD SEE AN ADDITIONAL 30 YEARS IN PRISON ADDED TO THE UP TO 50 YEARS HE IS CURRENTLY SERVING AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF THE JANUARY 31ST, 2020 SHOOTING DEATH OF 16-YEAR-OLD JOSEPH HOPKINS IN MAPLETON.

NEUBAUM WAS CHARGED WITH TEN COUNTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE, BUT WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY OF SEVEN OF THOSE COUNTS IN FRIDAY’S RULING.

JUDGE ZACHARY HINDMAN READ HIS VERDICT IN MONONA COUNTY DISTRICT COURT IN ONAWA.

NEUBAUM ATTENDED THE HEARING BY VIDEO CONFERENCE FROM THE STATE PRISON WHERE HE IS BEING HELD.

A SENTENCING DATE ON THE SEXUAL ABUSE CHARGES HAS NOT BEEN SET.
