AUTHORITIES IDENTIFY CHEROKEE ICE FISHING VICTIM

CHEROKEE COUNTY AUTHORITIES HAVE IDENTIFIED THE MAN WHOSE BODY WAS RECOVERED FROM A RURAL POND WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

66-YEAR-OLD MICHAEL HALDER OF CHEROKEE HAD GONE ICE FISHING AND WAS REPORTED MISSING.

THE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS SEARCH AND DIVE TEAMS FOUND HALDER’S BODY IN THE POND LOCATED SOUTH OF CHEROKEE.

HALDER WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.

THE CHEROKEE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT, AURELIA FIRE , CHEROKEE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND PLYMOUTH AND BUENA VISTA COUNTY DIVE TEAMS TOOK PART IN THE RECOVERY EFFORT.
