TWO SUSPECTS CHARGED IN SATURDAY MORNING WESTSIDE MURDER

SIOUX CITY POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE VICTIM AND DEFENDANTS INVOLVED IN THE MURDER EARLY SATURDAY ON THE CITY’S WESTSIDE.

17-YEAR-OLD DWIGHT C. EVANS OF SIOUX CITY IS CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF 22-YEAR-OLD MARTEZ HARRISON, ALSO OF SIOUX CITY.

POLICE FOUND HARRISON LYING IN THE STREET AROUND 1AM OUTSIDE OF
UNCLE DAVE’S BAR AT 1427 W. 3RD STREET.

ALSO ARRESTED WAS 20-YEAR-OLD LAWRENCE G. CANADY OF SIOUX CITY.

INVESTIGATORS SAY HARRISON WAS OUTSIDE THE BAR WAITING FOR A RIDE WHEN AN ARGUMENT BEGAN WITH CANADY.

WHEN HARRISON’S GIRLFRIEND ARRIVED TO PICK HIM UP, CANADY ASSAULTED HER AND HARRISON THEN BEGAN FIGHTING WITH CANADY.

POLICE SAY EVANS THEN SHOT HARRISON WITH A HANDGUN AT CLOSE RANGE.

CANADY AND EVANS FLED BUT WERE LOCATED AND ARRESTED A FEW HOURS LATER.

A GUN AND 100 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA WERE RECOVERED.

EVANS IS CHARGED WITH 1ST DEGREE MURDER, GOING ARMED WITH INTENT, FELONY ASSAULT, AND POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA,

HE HAS BEEN CHARGED AS AN ADULT.

CANADY WAS CHARGED WITH WILLFUL INJURY, FELONY ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY INJURY, AND USING A JUVENILE TO COMMIT AN INDICTABLE OFFENSE.
