SIOUX CITY MAN ARRESTED AFTER CRASH FILLED PURSUIT

A SIOUX CITY MAN IS IN CUSTODY FACING NUMEROUS CHARGES FOLLOWING A GUN CALL AND A PURSUIT SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

SIOUX CITY POLICE RECEIVED A REPORT OF A MAN DISPLAYING A GUN AT SAM’S MINI MART ON WEST 7TH STREET AND THREATENING PEOPLE.

OFFICERS LOCATED THE SUSPECT, 26-YEAR-OLD AUSTIN TANNER, PARKED IN A CAR A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO APPREHEND HIM.

TANNER DROVE AWAY AS THE OFFICER WAS TRYING TO APPREHEND HIM, DRAGGING THE OFFICER A SHORT DISTANCE RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES TO THE POLICEMAN.

OTHER OFFICERS AND WOODBURY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES PURSUED TANNER.

DURING THE PURSUIT, TANNER STRUCK SEVERAL PARKED CARS AND A CAR IN TRAFFIC.

NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED FROM THE ACCIDENTS.

TANNER LOST CONTROL OF HIS CAR ON THE I-29 ON-RAMP FROM VIRGINIA STREET, CRASHING AND HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY.

TANNER IS CHARGED WITH INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS CAUSING INJURY, ELUDING, MULTIPLE TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS AND HAD SOME OUTSTANDING WARRANTS AGAINST HIM.

HE IS BEING HELD IN THE WOODBURY COUNTY JAIL ON $22,000 BOND.
