DEMOLITION OF THE OLD LONGFELLOW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS UNDERWAY NEAR THE MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE CAMPUS.
DR. THOMAS PAULSEN, HEAD OF MORNINGSIDE’S APPLIED AGRICULTURE AND FOOD STUDIES DEPARTMENT, SAYS THE FORMER LONGFELLOW SITE WILL THEN BE CONVERTED INTO A MAJOR EXPANSION OF THE COLLEGE’S PROGRAM, THE ROSEN AG CENTER:

THE AG STUDIES PROGRAM SERVES ABOUT 80 STUDENTS EACH YEAR AND IS ONE OF MORNINGSIDE’S FASTEST GROWING PROGRAMS.
THE STUDENTS WILL LEARN THE GARDEN-TO-TABLE EXPERIENCE ON CAMPUS THROUGH HANDS ON ACTIVITIES:

THERE’S A QUICK TIMETABLE TO GET THE FORMER SCHOOL TAKEN DOWN AND THE NEW FACILITY PUT IN PLACE:

THE ROSEN AG CENTER AND LAGS GREENHOUSE WILL ALSO OPEN THE DOOR TO PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES WITH OTHER EDUCATION ORGANIZATIONS, FROM K-12, AREA TWO-YEAR COLLEGES, AND OTHER NONPROFITS, AS NO ONE IN THE AREA CURRENTLY HAS ACCESS TO A GREENHOUSE OR TEST PLOTS.
