2ND SUSPECT FOUND GUILTY IN KIDNAP-MURDER OF YANKTON WOMAN

A NORFOLK, NEBRASKA MAN COULD SPEND THE REST OF HIS LIFE IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR HIS PART IN A NOVEMBER, 2018 KIDNAPPING THAT ENDED WITH THE DEATH OF A YANKTON, SOUTH DAKOTA WOMAN.

A FEDERAL JURY IN OMAHA CONVICTED 50-YEAR-OLD RAMON SIMPSON OF KIDNAPPING RESULTING IN DEATH AND CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT KIDNAPPING.

PROSECUTORS SAY HE AND JOSEPH JAMES KIDNAPPED 59-YEAR-OLD PHYLLIS HUNHOFF AS SHE LEFT HER MOTHER’S HOME IN UTICA.

THEY DROVE HER IN HER VEHICLE TO NORFOLK AND DROPPED OFF SIMPSON.
JAMES LATER DROVE HER TO THE SANTEE SIOUX RESERVATION WHERE HE MURDERED HUNHOFF AND SET HER BODY AND CAR ON FIRE..

PROSECUTORS SAY SIMPSON REPEATEDLY LIED ABOUT HIS AND JAMES’S WHEREABOUTS TO FBI INVESTIGATORS.

JAMES ENTERED A PLEA OF GUILTY TO MURDER IN INDIAN COUNTRY IN 2020 AND WAS SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT.

SIMPSON WILL BE SENTENCED ON JUNE 30TH.
