CONSTRUCTION COSTS RISING ON NEW LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER PROJECT

CONSTRUCTION COSTS FOR THE NEW LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER AND JAIL TO BE BUILT ON SIOUX CITY’S NORTHSIDE ARE INCREASING.

RON WIECK, CHAIRMAN OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY, SAYS COVID-19’S EFFECT ON SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS HAS CAUSED THE PRICE TAG ON THE FACILITY CONSTRUCTION COSTS TO RISE.

COSTS1 OC……PRICE OF THE PROJECT. :27

THAT’S RAISED THE PROJECTED COST OF THE NEW L-E-C FROM 50.3 MILLION TO AROUND 58 OR 59 MILLION DOLLARS.

WOODBURY COUNTY WILL RECEIVE AROUND $20 MILLION IN FEDERAL AID THAT HOPEFULLY WILL PAY FOR THAT COST OVERRUN:

IF THE BIDS COME BACK AS EXPECTED, THE AUTHORITY HOPES TO BREAK GROUND IN THE LAST WEEK OF APRIL.
