WEST LYON 3RD GRADER DIES IN TWO VEHICLE CRASH (Update)

A 3RD GRADER FROM THE WEST LYON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS DIED IN A COLLISION BETWEEN A VEHICLE AND A SCHOOL BUS.

THE IOWA STATE PATROL SAYS 9-YEAR-OLD JESSICA YEAMAN OF INWOOD DIED WHEN THE CAR SHE WAS RIDING IN STRUCK THE BACK OF THE STOPPED SCHOOL BUS.

THE DRIVER OF THE CAR, 17-YEAR-OLD RACHEL GAPINSKI OF INWOOD, WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED AND TAKEN TO SANFORD MEDICAL CENTER IN SIOUX FALLS.

THE PATROL SAYS THE BUS HAD STOPPED TO PICK UP STUDENTS WHEN THE VEHICLE STRUCK IT FROM BEHIND.

THE BUS DRIVER, 56-YEAR-OLD TIMOTHY EZZELL OF LARCHWOOD WAS NOT INJURED, NOR WERE ANY STUDENTS.

THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED AROUND 7:30 FRIDAY MORNING, ON COUNTY ROAD A-50 ABOUT 4 MILES WEST OF HIGHWAY 18 NEAR INWOOD.
