U.K. COVID VARIANT CASES FOUND IN SEVERAL AREA COUNTIES

IOWA’S DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH SAYS SEVERAL COUNTIES IN THE STATE HAVE REPORTED CASES OF THE U.K. VARIANT OF COVID-19 AMONG RESIDENTS WHO WERE RECENTLY TESTED.

19 DIFFERENT COUNTIES HAVE REPORTED CASES.

THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH ON WEDNESDAY CONFIRMED 38 ADDITIONAL CASES OF THE U-K VARIANT.

SIOUXLAND DISTRICT HEALTH TOLD CBS-14 THAT THEY HAD ONE CASE A FEW WEEKS AGO AND ONE OR TWO ADDITIONAL CASES SINCE THAT TIME.

THE OTHER NORTHWEST IOWA COUNTIES WITH CONFIRMED CASES OF THE U.K. VARIANT ARE CHEROKEE, CRAWFORD, DICKINSON AND PLYMOUTH.

POLK, BLACK HAWK, SCOTT AND POTTAWATTAMIE ARE AMONG THE OTHER COUNTIES ALSO REPORTING ONE OR MORE CASES.

THE I-D-P-H SAYS CURRENT VACCINES ARE EFFECTIVE AGAINST THE VARIANT.
