THE CITY COUNCIL OF SIOUX CITY IS GOING TO REVISIT THE CITY’S FIREWORKS ORDINANCE BEFORE NEW YEAR’S EVE.

COUNCILMAN DAN MOORE BROUGHT UP THE ISSUE AT THE END OF MONDAY’S MEETING, SAYING THAT 10,000 MILITARY VETERANS IN THE METRO AREA ARE IMPACTED NEGATIVELY BY LOUD FIREWORKS:

OC………HEALTH ISSUES AS WELL. :17

MOORE WANTS TO RUN PUBLIC SERVICE ADS ASKING LOCAL RESIDENTS TO NOT USE FIREWORKS UNTIL THE LEGALLY PERMITTED TIME OF 1PM DECEMBER 31ST THROUGH 12:30AM NEW YEAR’S EVE.

MARK SOLHEIM, A PRIVATE CITIZEN, HAS BEEN WORKING ON THE VETERAN’S FIREWORKS PSA PLAN WITH MOORE:

OC…………..YOU NEVER CAN. :13

MAYOR BOB SCOTT SAYS HE WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH GOING BACK TO A BAN OF FIREWORKS IF PEOPLE WON’T COMPLY WITH THE LEGAL TIMEFRAME TO USE THEM:

OC……..I’M GOING TO GET. :17

MAYOR SCOTT WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SEE A STRONGER PENALTY AGAINST THE HOMEOWNER WHERE A FIREWORKS VIOLATION TAKES PLACE:

OC…….RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR HOUSE. :13

THE FIREWORKS PROPOSAL WILL BE PLACED ON NEXT MONDAY’S CITY COUNCIL AGENDA.
