DRIVER SOUGHT AFTER HIGH SPEED CHASE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

SIOUX CITY POLICE SAY THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE THAT WAS PURSUED BY SEVERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY.

THE INCIDENT BEGAN SHORTLY BEFORE 5PM WHEN OFFICERS IN MOVILLE RECEIVED A REPORT OF A BLUE FORD ESCAPE DRIVING RECKLESSLY.

THE SUSPECT DRIVER REFUSED TO STOP AND A PURSUIT BEGAN ON HIGHWAY 20 FROM MOVILLE TO SIOUX CITY WITH SPEEDS EXCEEDING 100 MILES AN HOUR.

THE SUSPECT ENTERED SIOUX CITY ON GORDON DRIVE AND DROVE THROUGH MORNINGSIDE TO SOUTH LEWIS BOULEVARD, WITH SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES BEING STRUCK.

THAT INCLUDED AN IOWA STATE PATROL VEHICLE COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER MOTORIST WHO TURNED INTO THE TROOPER’S PATH FROM STONE AVENUE ONTO GORDON DRIVE.

SEVERAL MINOR INJURIES WERE REPORTED IN THE COLLISIONS.

THE DAMAGED CAR DRIVEN BY THE SUSPECT FINALLY STOPPED IN SERGEANT BLUFF WHERE THE DRIVER FLED ON FOOT AND A PASSENGER WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY.

THE DRIVER WAS EVENTUALLY LOCATED AND ARRESTED.

25-YEAR-OLD DAYTON PROVOST OF SIOUX CITY IS CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER, ELUDING, OWI 3RD, SPEEDING, INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS, DRIVING WITHOUT INSURANCE AND STOP SIGN VIOLATIONS.

HE IS BEING HELD IN THE WOODBURY COUNTY JAIL ON $10,900 BOND.
