SIOUX CITY POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE VICTIM OF SUNDAY MORNING’S STABBING ON THE CITY’S WESTSIDE.
24-YEAR-OLD KENIA ALVAREZ-FLORES DIED FROM NUMEROUS STAB WOUNDS INFLICTED OUTSIDE OF HER RESIDENCE IN THE 1200 BLOCK OF WEST 14TH STREET.
DETECTIVE NICK THOMPSON SAYS WITHIN MINUTES AFTER ARRIVING AT THE SCENE, POLICE LOCATED AND STOPPED A VEHICLE AT 16TH AND DOUGLAS AND ARRESTED THE SUSPECT, 20 YEAR OLD MELISSA CAMARGO-FLORES OF DAKOTA CITY, NEBRASKA:

POLICE BELIEVE CAMARGO-FLORES ACCIDENTALLY STABBED HERSELF IN THE ALLEGED ATTACK.
THOMPSON SAYS AFTER CAMARGO-FLORES WAS TREATED AND RELEASED FROM ST.LUKE’S, SHE WAS BOOKED INTO THE WOODBURY COUNTY JAIL ON A CHARGE OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER:

COURT DOCUMENTS STATE THAT CAMARGO-FLORES ADMITTED TO POLICE THAT SHE WAS INVOLVED IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE VICTIM’S BOYFRIEND, AND WAITED OUTSIDE ALVAREZ-FLORES’ HOME FOR 20 MINUTES FOR HER TO COME OUT BEFORE THE ALLEGED ASSAULT.
IT’S THE 6TH HOMICIDE OF THE YEAR IN SIOUX CITY.
CAMARGO-FLORES IS BEING HELD IN THE WOODBURY COUNTY JAIL ON A HALF MILLION DOLLARS BOND.
