TWO ARRESTED ON CHARGES FOR BEE HIVE DESTRUCTION ON WESTSIDE

SIOUX CITY POLICE HAVE ARRESTED TWO JUVENILE BOYS ON CHARGES THAT THEY DESTROYED A SERIES OF BEE HIVES ON THE CITY’S WESTSIDE LAST MONTH.

THE UNIDENTIFIED BOYS, AGES 12 AND 13, ARE SUSPECTED OF THE BURGLARY AND VANDALISM AT WILD HILL HONEY ON DECEMBER 27TH WHERE ALL OF THE COMPANY’S HIVES WERE DESTROYED AND A HALF MILLION BEES PERISHED IN THE COLD.

THE BOYS ARE CHARGED WITH FELONY CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, 3RD DEGREE BURGLARY, AGRICULTURAL ANIMAL FACILITIES OFFENSES AND POSSESSION OF BURGLARY TOOLS.

DAMAGE TO THE BUSINESS WAS ESTIMATED AT OVER $60,000.

POLICE SAY TIPS PROVIDED BY THE PUBLIC HELPED SOLVE THE CASE AND NO FURTHER ARRESTS ARE ANTICIPATED.
