Monday night Le Mars Fire Rescue had to battle a structural fire and the elements for the second time in 24 hours.

Fire fighters were at a construction storage building on Marble Avenue belonging to Timmins Construction for five hours.

Le Mars Fire Chief Dave Schipper says the 80 foot long building was totally engulfed when fire fighters arrived.

He says the building and contents are a total loss estimated at nearly $500,000:

Schipper believes the fire may have been burning at least an hour before the fire department was notified.

Passer-byes on Highway 3 reported the fire and Schipper says responders had to deal with additional dangers from the blaze:

OC……call this in. ;22

Schipper says additional investigation will be needed to try to determine the cause of the fire:

OC………TO EVEN DETERMINE. ;17

The Le Mars Fire Chief says with the mobile home trailer fire that happened early Monday morning, plus the five hours fighting the construction fire, it has led to his fire fighters being very fatigued.
