TWO ARRESTED IN DEATH OF BALD EAGLE

TWO HONDURAN NATIONALS HAVE BEEN CHARGED IN NEBRASKA FOR KILLING AND POSSESSING AN AMERICAN BALD EAGLE.

THE STANTON COUNTY SHERIFF RESPONDED TO A REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON NORTHWEST OF THE MAIN WOOD DUCK RECREATION AREA LOCATED THREE MILES SOUTHWEST OF STANTON.

INVESTIGATORS FOUND THE TWO MEN WITH A DEAD AMERICAN BALD EAGLE IN THEIR POSSESSION.

THE SHERIFF SAYS THE MEN HAD SHOT AND KILLED THE PROTECTED NATIONAL BIRD AND STATED THEY PLANNED ON COOKING AND EATING THE BIRD.

NEBRASKA GAME AND PARKS TOOK CUSTODY OF THE EAGLE AND THE RIFLE USED TO KILL THE BIRD.

20-YEAR-OLD RAMIRO HERNANDEZ-TZIQUIN AND 20-YEAR-OLD DOMINGO ZETINO-HERNANDEZ, BOTH RESIDENTS OF NORFOLK, WERE CITED FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF THE EAGLE.

MORE SERIOUS CHARGES ARE POSSIBLE AS THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE UNLAWFUL KILLING OF THE BALD EAGLE CONTINUES.
