Former Metro Baseball Players Start Minor League Seasons

Minor League affiliated baseball returns today to ballparks across the country and 5 former metro Sioux City baseball players are on rosters for their respective Major League Clubs.

Former Heelan Crusader Tyler Cropley begins his tenure with the Kansas City Royals with their Double A team, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Cropley signed with the Royals after being drafted by the Washington Nationals out of the University of Iowa.

East Black Raider standout Dom Thompson-Williams will take the field today as a member of the Arkansas Travelers, who will play Cropley’s Naturals to start the season. Thompson Williams is listed as the #40 prospect in the Mariners organization.

Damek Tomscha (North Stars) played more baseball than most players last year electing to compete with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association last summer; then played overseas for the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League. Tomscha’s teams both competed for a league championship. The Milwaukee Milkmen defeated Sioux Falls, while Tomscha earned a championship ring with the Aces. Tomscha signed this off season with the Minnesota Twins and will play at the Double A level with the new Minnesota Twins affiliate, the Wichita Wind Surge.

Another former North Star Robert Neustrom beings 2021 with the Double A Bowie Baysox in the Baltimore Orioles organization. Since being drafted out of the University of Iowa Neustrom has played for 3 different teams all in the Orioles farm system.

Daniel Tillo continues to rehab in Arizona after having Tommy John surgery last summer. The left handed Royals prospect is hoping to be given the ok to compete mid summer and continue his ascension through the Royals Minor League system. Tillo is a Top 20 prospect in a loaded Royals farm system
