THE PROSECUTION CONCLUDED ITS CASE THURSDAY IN THE 3RD DAY OF THE FIRST DEGREE MURDER TRIAL OF PAUL BELK IN WOODBURY COUNTY DISTRICT COURT.
THE 31-YEAR-OLD BELK IS CHARGED IN THE FATAL STABBING OF THE WOMAN WHO ADOPTED HIM, 55-YEAR-OLD LISA BELK, LAST APRIL.
THE ONLY WITNESS CALLED WAS A MEMBER OF THE STATE MEDICAL EXAMINERS OFFICE WHO TESTIFIED ABOUT LISA BELK’S INJURIES.
THE DEFENSE THEN MOVED FOR ACQUITTAL WHICH PRESIDING JUDGE JEFFREY NEARY DENIED.
THE DEFENSE WILL PRESENT ITS CASE FRIDAY MORNING IN THE BENCH TRIAL OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA MAN.
PAUL BELK IS ALSO CHARGED WITH WILLFUL INJURY FOR ALLEGEDLY STABBING HIS ADOPTED SISTER, 28-YEAR-OLD SUSAN BELK IN THE SAME INCIDENT.
