FIFTEEN NAIA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAMS ARE MAKING THEIR WAY TO SIOUX CITY TO JOIN THE MORNINGSIDE MUSTANGS IN PARTICIPATING IN THE NAIA NATIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEK.

TOURNAMENT CO-DIRECTOR COREY WESTRA SAYS HE’S HAPPY SIOUX CITY IS ABLE TO HOST THE TOURNEY FOR THE 24TH TIME AFTER THE PANDEMIC SHUT DOWN THE 23RD EDITION AFTER ONLY A FEW GAMES HAD BEEN PLAYED LAST YEAR:

WESTRA SAYS FANS WILL BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE GAMES IN THE TYSON EVENTS CENTER, BUT THE SEATING WILL BE LIMITED:

ALL 16 TEAMS HAVE BEEN UNDERGOING COVID TESTING FOR PRELIMINARY GAMES BEFORE QUALIFYING TO COME TO SIOUX CITY.

THEY ALL MADE IT THROUGH THOSE GAMES WITHOUT A POSITIVE TEST.
WESTRA SAYS THERE IS A PLAN IN PLACE IF A TEAM DOES HAVE SOMEONE TEST POSITIVE:

THE TOURNAMENT TIPS OFF THURSDAY WITH TOP SEEDED THOMAS MORE OF KENTUCKY PLAYING #16 MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE AT 1PM.

THAT’S FOLLOWED BY NUMBER 9 DAKOTA STATE AGAINST #8 STERLING KANSAS AT 3PM.

THE 5TH SEEDED MORNINGSIDE MUSTANGS WILL PLAY 12TH SEEDED ST. FRANCIS OF ILLINOIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT 8PM.
