You might be surprised to learn that beer and breweries have been a part of Sioux City’s history for over a century and a half.
That history is now on display at Sioux City’s Public Museum:
OC……..until 1961. ;10
Museum Curator Matt Anderson says the exhibit features memorabilia from those early breweries, plus current brew pubs of today.
There’s also the history of the impact state and federal prohibition laws had on the industry locally;
OC…to 1855. ;20
That included the shooting death of an anti-alcohol crusader, Reverend George Haddock in 1886 near 4th and Water Streets.
The exhibit will be on display through March 12th at the public museum located at 4th and Nebraska Streets downtown.
