ODD/EVEN DAY EMERGENCY SNOW PARKING ORDINANCE APPROVED

THE CITY COUNCIL HAS GIVEN FINAL APPROVAL TO AN ODD-EVEN CALENDAR DAY PARKING ORDINANCE FOR EMERGENCY SNOW REMOVAL IN SIOUX CITY.

PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DAVE CARNEY SAYS THE ORDINANCE WOULD BE IN EFFECT WHEN A SNOW EMERGENCY IS DECLARED BY THE MAYOR OR CITY MANAGER.

CARNEY TOLD COUNCILMAN DAN MOORE THAT IT WOULD REMAIN IN EFFECT EVEN IF A STREET IS ONE OF THE FIRST ONES CLEARED:

THE CITY HOPES TO BE MORE PRO-ACTIVE AND DECLARE THE EMERGENCY IN ADVANCE OF A HEAVY SNOWFALL.

THE ORDINANCE WOULD RUN FROM 7AM THE FIRST DAY THROUGH 7AM THE NEXT MORNING, AND THEN VEHICLES WOULD SHIFT TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET.
