A Republican Iowa lawmaker says he’s surprised by all the attention he’s received since announcing plans to introduce a bill that would cut the budgets of state universities that spend money on students upset about the presidential election.
Rep. Bobby Kaufmann calls the planned legislation the “suck it up, buttercup bill.”
OC…what it’s become. :10
The bill would target state universities that use taxpayer dollars to fund election-related sit-ins and grief counseling above and beyond what is normally available to students.
Kaufmann says students like those at the University of Northern Iowa who gathered recently at three sessions to discuss the election and their fears aren’t being served well:
OC……..hands you lemons. ;13
He says the second part of the proposal concerns actions of the students who are protesting by blocking highways:
OC….public highways. :21
The state representative says he’s received threats through social media since his proposal:
OC………..keyboard cowboys. :19
Kaufmann says the atmosphere on some college campuses is not conducive to reality.
He made his comments on KSCJ’s “Open Line with Charlie Stone”.
