The 59 Republicans elected to serve in the Iowa House for the next two years have re-elected Linda Upmeyer of Clear Lake as the House speaker.
The group met Wednesday to start discussing 2017 priorities, but Upmeyer isn’t revealing details of the G-O-P’s agenda, including consideration to cut Iowans’ personal income taxes:
OC………..END YET. ;07
Upmeyer says beyond reducing “duplication” and looking for efficiencies in the state budget, it would be a “stretch” to expect state agencies will be shuttered.
OC……gain traction.” :19
Upmeyer also says she is “not entirely sure” what the G-O-P agenda may be on state funding for schools, suggesting there will “be discussions” about collective bargaining rights for unions that represent government workers, including teachers.
