In South Dakota, incumbent Republicans easily won re-election to the U.S. Capitol.

Senator John Thune defeated Democratic challenger Jay Williams 72 to 28 percent.

Representative Kristi Noem won in similar fashion, topping Democrat Paula Hawks 64 to 36 percent.

A state ballot issue to limit interest rates to 36 percent annually for businesses such as payday, auto title and installment lenders was approved by more than a three to one margin….76 to 24 per cent.

Another proposal to allow unions to charge fees to nonmembers in right-to-work South Dakota failed by an 80 percent to 20 percent margin.
