CITY COUNCIL UNDECIDED ON GLASS RECYCLING ISSUE

THE CITY COUNCIL OF SIOUX CITY COULDN’T RESOLVE THE FUTURE OF GLASS RECYCLING WITH THE COMPANY THAT COLLECTS THE RECYCLABLES AND TRASH IN THE COMMUNITY AT THEIR MONDAY MEETING.

GILL HAULING WANTS TO BE PAID MORE MONEY TO COLLECT THE GLASS AT SEVEN POSSIBLE DROP OFF POINTS.

MELISSA CAMPBELL OF THE CITY’S ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT SAYS CITY STAFF IS OPPOSED TO PAYING MORE MONEY THAN THE EXISTING CONTRACT CALLS FOR:

GILL WOULD PICK THE GLASS UP EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS AS NEEDED, NOT ON A MONTHLY BASIS.

GROETKEN AND KEITH RADIG VOTED FOR THE AMENDMENT.

RHONDA CAPRON DID NOT AND BOB SCOTT ABSTAINED, WHICH WAS THE SAME AS A NO VOTE, CREATING A 2-2 DEADLOCK.
