The Dakota County Attorney has filed charges of first-degree murder against two suspects in the death of a rural Emerson, Nebraska man.
The suspects are 25 year old Andres Surber and 18 year old Brayan Misael Galvan-Hernandez.
The two men are charged in the death of 41 year old Kraig Kubik, who was last seen alive Tuesday night.
Investigators went to Kubik’s home Wednesday after learning that his young son made statements at school that his father may have been killed.
Deputies talked with Kubik’s girlfriend who said she had watched surveillance video from Kubik’s residence that showed two men inside the home the night before.
One was identified as Surber.
Authorities contacted Galvan-Hernandez and Surber at Galvan-Hernandez’s residence in Wakefield, who said they didn’t know the whereabouts of Kubik.
Court documents say a search turned up bloody clothing and shoes and a key to a Chevy Impala.
The investigation led authorities to a rural Dixon County property owned by Surber’s family.
Authorities found an Impala with a severed arm and leg in the trunk that were identified by fingerprints as Kubik’s.
The rest of his body has not been located.
The two suspects are being held in the Dakota County Jail.
