An event that brings awareness to homelessness in the Siouxland area will take place tonight.
The twelfth annual Siouxland Sleep-Out will be held at Mercy Field in Lewis and Clark Park.
Participants set up cardboard boxes and tents to sleep under the stars and learn what it’s like to not have a home with a bed to sleep in.
The money raised from participants and pledges stays in Sioux City to benefit several agencies which provide housing and supportive services to the homeless.
The gates will open around 2pm for participants to start setting up their shelters and the lights go out at 11pm.
