The construction of a new Sioux City park will result in the temporary closure of another one in the Morningside area.
The city parks department will close Sertoma Park beginning Monday until further notice.
The city says the temporary park closure is necessary to support construction of the Cone Park project.
Contractors are scheduled to begin dredging the pond in Sertoma Park this month and install snow making equipment for the Cone Park tubing hill.
The public will be notified once Sertoma Park is deemed safe to use again and open for public use.
Cone Park is anticipated to open in December of 2017.
