South Sioux City officials say action is being taken to deal with a sewer gas backup that is affecting some homes in a neighborhood of that city.
City Administrator Lance Hedquist says the city has received calls from around 15 residents about the problem:
OC………Big Ox company. :21
Hedquist says this is a new issue with Big Ox Energy.
The plant came on line with the city sewer system about 3 weeks ago and processes waste from other plants and generates methane gas:
OC………….quick as possible. :24
One resident left their home and stayed at a hotel for a night because of the odor.
Hedquist says each home is being checked for gas levels and to make sure there’s no other health issue:
OC……..time frame on that. :17
Homes in the affected area are from Red Bird Lane to Lemasa Drive and 39th street to 32nd street.
