FURLICH PLEADS NO CONTEST TO ATTEMPTED ASSAULT CHARGE

THE FORMER CITY CLERK OF LAWTON, IOWA HAS PLEADED NO CONTEST TO A NEBRASKA CHARGE FILED IN A CHILD SEX CASE.

61-YEAR-OLD DOUGLAS FURLICH ENTERED HIS PLEA WEDNESDAY IN DAKOTA COUNTY DISTRICT COURT IN DAKOTA CITY.

FURLICH PLEADED NO CONTEST TO A CHARGE OF ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT BY USE OF AN ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE.

HE WAS ARRESTED JUNE 2ND AT CRYSTAL COVE PARK IN SOUTH SIOUX CITY BY AN UNDERCOVER OFFICER.

THE NEBRASKA STATE PATROL SAYS FURLICH HAD POSTED AN AD ONLINE SAYING HE WAS “LOOKING FOR A YOUNGER GUY.”
THE OFFICER RESPONDED, PRETENDING TO BE A 15-YEAR-OLD BOY.

THE LAWTON CITY COUNCIL LATER FIRED FURLICH FOLLOWING HIS ARREST.

SENTENCING HAS BEEN SET FOR NOVEMBER 9TH.
