Ho-Chunk, Inc. is re-opening the racetrack at Atokad Park in South Sioux City for sanctioned horse racing this weekend.
The inaugural live race will be held this Saturday, September 10th with a 5pm post time.
Guests can bet on their favorite horse and enjoy a variety of food and beverages from local vendors.
Ho-Chunk purchased the Atokad property in 2012 and received its license to operate the track this summer.
Plans are underway to build a bar and grill in addition to the race track.
Both live and simulcast racing will be held at the facility.
Saturday’s event will also feature a family fun day with activities starting at 3:00 p.m., including pony rides, face painting, and a bounce house
There will also be a “Crazy Hat Competition” for adults.
