TYSON FRESH MEATS CELEBRATED THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS DAKOTA CITY BEEF PACKING PLANT FRIDAY WITH A PICNIC LUNCH AND PROGRAM FOR ITS EMPLOYEES AND CORPORATE STAFF.

STEVE STOUFFER, PRESIDENT OF TYSON FRESH MEATS IN DAKOTA DUNES, BEGAN WORKING AT THE PLANT 34 YEARS AGO, RISING THROUGH THE RANKS TO HIS CURRENT POST.

THE PLANT HAS SEEN $237 MILLION DOLLARS IN UPGRADES OVER THE LAST DECADE.

STOUFFER SAYS EVEN WITH MORE AUTOMATION, THE BEEF PROCESSOR DEPENDS ON ITS WORKERS, AND THE COMPANY HAS TRIED TO MAKE THEIR JOBS SAFER WITH THE IMPROVEMENTS:

THE COMPLEX MAKES 1500 PRODUCTS INCLUDING CARCASS BEEF PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING AS WELL AS HIDE PROCESSING AND TANNING.

TYSON PRODUCES ENOUGH FOOD IN ONE WEEK TO FEED THE CITY OF OMAHA FOR A FULL YEAR

THE COMPANY’S ANNUAL LOCAL PAYROLL IS $148 MILLION DOLLARS.
