Authorities say the wife of a 73-year-old man fatally injured in a Woodbury County collision has also died from injuries in that crash.

The Iowa State Patrol confirms that 70-year-old Kay Crowl of Hornick died Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Crowl was a passenger in the car driven by her husband, Mark Crowl, Sunday night east of Hornick when their vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Shayna Schelm, also of Hornick.

Mark Crowl was pronounced dead soon after reaching the hospital.

Investigators say Schlem crossed lanes in front of Crowl’s oncoming vehicle as she was preparing to make a left turn.

Schelm was treated and released with minor injuries.
