A Woodbury County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy escaped injury early Tuesday morning when he was almost struck by a passing vehicle while finishing a previous traffic stop.
The deputy had stopped a vehicle at 330th and Charles and attempted to then stop the second vehicle.
A pursuit ensued south on I-29 from Sloan where the suspect, 53 year old Don Duclos, exited I-29 at Whiting and subsequently crashed the vehicle near the intersection of K-42 and Berry Ave.
Duclos was taken into custody and is charged with assaulting an officer, felony eluding, reckless driving, no drivers license or insurance and numerous traffic counts.
Duclos was also wanted on warrants for his arrest from Polk, Warren and Pottawattamie Counties.
He is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $36,000 bond.
