WOODBURY COUNTY’S BOARD OF SUPERVISORS HAS AGAIN VOTED DOWN A PROPOSAL TO FORM A COMMITTEE TO STUDY INCREASING THE MINIMUM WAGE IN THE COUNTY.

SEVERAL CITIZENS, INCLUDING ALEX WATTERS, SPOKE TO THE BOARD TUESDAY AFTERNOON ABOUT THE NEED TO INCREASE THE WAGE FROM ITS CURRENT LEVEL OF $7.25:

OC………IN THE STATE OF IOWA. :20

THE CITIZENS PRESENTED A PETITION WITH OVER 400 SIGNATURES TO THE BOARD REQUESTING THE STUDY.

SUPERVISORS CHAIRMAN JEREMY TAYLOR TOLD THE PETITIONERS THAT HE FELT THE ISSUE SHOULD BE DEALT WITH BY THE CITY RATHER THAN THE COUNTY:

OC……..PROBLEMS WITH IT. ;19

SUPERVISORS JACKIE SMITH AND LARRY CLAUSEN ASKED IF THE PROPOSAL COULD BE PUT ON NEXT WEEKS AGENDA.

TAYLOR POLLED THE BOARD ON THEIR FEELING, AND IT WAS VOTED DOWN 3-2 WITH MATTHEW UNG AND MARK MONSON VOTING WITH TAYLOR AGAINST CONSIDERATION.
