OC…WE HAVE LOW WAGES. ;21

SUPERVISOR JACKIE SMITH PREVIOUSLY PROPOSED FORMING A COMMITTEE TO LOOK INTO A MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE, BUT THE FULL BOARD VOTED DOWN THE IDEA 3-2.

IOWA’S MINIMUM WAGE IS AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL OF $7.25 AN HOUR.

SOUTH DAKOTA’S IS $8.55 AND NEBRASKA’S IS AT $9.00 AN HOUR.

STURGEON SAYS THAT HURTS SIOUX CITY IN AREA JOB COMPETITION.

HE HOPES WOODBURY WILL DO WHAT OTHER IOWA COUNTIES HAVE ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED:

OC……….THREE YEARS. ;26

STURGEON HOPES THE PETITIONS, SIGNED BY 400 LOCAL RESIDENTS, WILL CONVINCE THE BOARD TO PLACE THE ITEM ON THEIR NEXT AGENDA SO THE PUBLIC MAY BE HEARD ON THE MATTER.
