CHARGES DISMISSED AGAINST ASSAULT SUSPECT

CHARGES HAVE BEEN DISMISSED AGAINST A SIOUX CITY MAN WHO WAS ARRESTED EARLIER THIS MONTH FOR HIS ALLEGED INVOLVEMENT IN A JUNE ASSAULT THAT SEVERELY INJURED A NEBRASKA MAN.

20 YEAR OLD BENJAMIN GALLAUGHER HAD BEEN CHARGED WITH FELONY WILLFUL INJURY.

ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY JAMES LOOMIS FILED A MOTION LAST FRIDAY TO DISMISS THE CHARGE.

JUDGE TODD HENSLEY RULED TO ACCEPT THE DISMISSAL.

COURT DOCUMENTS STATE GALLAUGHER WAS ONE OF EIGHT PEOPLE SUSPECTED OF ASSAULTING BRADLEY COAN THE NIGHT OF JUNE 22ND OUTSIDE OF COAN’S SISTER’S RIVERSIDE RESIDENCE.

POLICE SAY COAN WAS PUNCHED, KICKED AND STRUCK WITH METAL PIPES WHICH CAUSED HIM TO SUFFER A BRAIN INJURY.

COAN’S INJURY WAS SO SEVERE HE WAS PLACED INTO A MEDICALLY INDUCED COMA.

NO OTHER ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE CASE WHICH REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
