MidAmerican Energy has launched a campaign to inform customers about scammers.
Spokesperson Ashton Hockman says utility customers should do two things if they think they are being contacted by a person falsely representing the company:

Hockman says there are different variations of the scams, but they all include some common elements.

The goal is to get the customer’s personal information. She says MidAmerican will not call and make such demands.

Hockman also encourages everyone to share information about scammers with others.
