Republican Congressman Steve King has agreed to participate in at least eight debates across the 4th Congressional District.
King says voters want he and Democratic challenger Christie Vilsack to debate the issues. King says he's agreeing to two additional debates - to make sure the entire district has the opportunity to learn exactly where they stand on the issues.
He expects the two campaigns will iron out the final details for the series of debates, providing voters with numerous opportunities to hear about the issues.
The first debate would be in Des Moines on WHO radio on July 30th. Among the others are a Sioux City debate at Morningside College on September 29th with others in Spencer on September 8th and a final debate in Orange City at a date to be determined.
The Vilsack campaign has not yet responded to King's proposal.
