FIRE INVESTIGATORS HAVE WRAPPED UP THEIR LOOK INTO WHAT CAUSED TWO OTHER LOCAL FIRES LAST FRIDAY.

A HOUSE FIRE IN THE 4300 BLOCK OF ORLEANS AVENUE IN MORNINGSIDE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO A HEAT LAMP IN A CLOSET THAT STARTED NEARBY COMBUSTIBLES BURNING.

THAT SAME AFTERNOON, FIRE STARTED IN AN ATTACHED SHED TO A GROCERY STORE AT WEST 26TH AND MYRTLE STREETS.

THAT FIRE IS BLAMED ON A CHARCOAL GRILL THAT WAS IN USE IN THE SHED AT THE TIME THE BLAZE BROKE OUT

A MAINTENANCE WORKER AT THE TYSON DAKOTA CITY PLANT DIED EARLY THURSDAY MORNING WHILE WORKING ON A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IN THE PLANT. 

TYSON SPOKESMAN GARY MIKELSON SAYS THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT. 

THE UNIDENTIFIED WORKER WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL, BUT DIED OF HIS INJURIES. 

MIKELSON SAYS FIRST SHIFT OPERATIONS IN THE BEEF CARCASS PRODUCTION PART OF THE PLANT HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED FOR THURSDAY. 

SAFETY AND OPERATIONS PERSONNEL ARE INVESTIGATING THE MISHAP AND OSHA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.

A family of five has been left homeless after a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Sioux City.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 1300 block of West 6th street around 5pm after a family member said they saw smoke in an upstairs bathroom.

Three people in the home got out safely, while two other family members weren't home. Smoke was coming out of the top of the house when firemen arrived.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Congressman Steve King filed nomination petitions Wednesday to certify his bid for Iowa's new 4th Congressional District seat.

The current 5th District Republican Congressman collected over 8500 signatures qualifying all 39 counties.

Iowa will lose one of its current five Congressional seats for the upcoming election because of the last census....placing King in the new larger district.

He faces a challenge from Democrat Christie Vilsack in the November election.
