The host of KSCJ's "Impact", Sam Clovis, made it official Monday night. He is entering the race for the United States Senate.
The Republican from Hinton made his announcement to seek the senate seat currently held by Democrat Tom Harkin at Sioux City's Holiday Inn:
Around 200 supporters turned out for the announcement. Clovis told them that he believes government is best when it is both pragmatic and honest. He says right now, we have neither.
He wants to halt what he calls the outrageous spending of taxpayer money and the wasteful entity that government has become;
Clovis says he will fight to secure America's borders and supports lawful immigration:
He says he is running to flip 'politics as usual' on its proverbial head. Clovis is a constitutional conservative:
Clovis says nobody should serve in congress for more than 12 years. He believes in the nuclear family and supports the right to life and would remove taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood.
Clovis is a former Air Force fighter pilot who is a full tenured professor of the Business & Economics Department at Morningside College in Sioux City.
