A former staffer for former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle has announced that he'll seek the Democratic nomination for the seat being vacated by Sen. Tim Johnson.
Rick Weiland says he's running for things in which he strongly believes. He says there's a hunger for political leadership in the country willing to stand up, regardless of the political consequences or the big money.
The 54-year-old Weiland is the first Democrat to officially enter the race. Former Governor Mike Rounds is the only Republican running so far.
