Daylight Savings Time begins this Sunday morning at 2:00 a.m. Jesse Pedersen of the Sioux City Fire department reminds us that when it's time to change your clocks, it's time to check your smoke alarms.

Pedersen says you should test your smoke alarms monthly. If a smoke alarm is ten years old or older, it should be replaced.  Sioux City Fire Rescue will help you with its Safe Home program:

Having a working smoke alarm increases a person's chance of surviving a fire by fifty percent. To find out more about the Safe Home program, contact the Sioux City Fire Department at  279-6278.
