Iowa Fourth District Congressman Steve King and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack sparred over proposed USDA inspector cuts during a House Agriculture Committee meeting on Tuesday.
King is concerned about what plan Vilsack will use to avoid furloughing meat inspectors as part of sequestration cuts:
Vilsack and King disagreed on how those inspectors jobs should be funded:
Vilsack says Congress could change the law if they choose. King says he expected answers about the meat producers, but the Secretary had no substantive answers.
