Sioux City's Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle is back in town after a tour of duty on the east coast to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The E-R-V was returned by rail from the east to Omaha, where volunteers then drove it back to Sioux City.

The vehicle was part of a fleet of more than 300 in service following the October 2012 storms.

During that time disaster responders served more than 10.5 million snacks and meals and handed out more than 6.9 million relief items, including necessities for cold weather and clean-up supplies.
